NCAA Division I

Calls, electronic correspondence and recruiting materials may begin September 1 of junior year. Visits and off-campus contact follow separate rules. Source: NCAA Division I recruiting legislation (verified 2026-09-20).

Division II, III and NAIA/JUCO

D2: After June 15 preceding junior year there are no limits on calls, texts, emails or off-campus contact in D2. Recruiting materials can be sent to you at any time before that.

D3: D3 has the lightest restrictions: coaches can call, email and host you on campus once you finish sophomore year, and there are no athletic scholarships - so lead with academic fit, admissions and need/merit aid.
